Turning Around a Difficult Situation

Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.  1 Samuel 16:7

God does not see other people or even our motives the way man sees them.  Sometimes we place value on people based on what the world deems as physical attractiveness, career success, or even wealthy financial status.  At other times, we may do things for God to get something in return.  For example, we may tithe ten percent of our income to get more money in return or we may serve in our local church to get God to fulfill a promise in our lives.  While it is important to tithe and to even serve in our local church, we must ask God to help us to do those things with the right motives.  Luke 12:2 is clear that there is nothing covered that is not revealed to God.  Often, when people are in a difficult situation, they do things for God simply to get out of the difficulty.  Sometimes we do not see more manifestations of the promises of God in our lives because of our motives.  When Paul and Silas were in jail in Acts 16:25 for example, they prayed and sang praises unto God simply out of their love for Him not to get God to open the prison doors to release them, which happened after they prayed and praised God.  After the prison doors were opened, they did not leave immediately which confirms that they did not pray and praise God simply to get out of prison.  Serve and praise God with the right motives today, simply because He is worthy and watch things turn around in your life!
