Toiling Is Under the Curse
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Everything we receive from God is a byproduct of His grace! That includes salvation and even our very livelihood. Often, our frustration is rooted in the fact that we are trying to make things happen in our lives in our own strength! Toiling however, is under the curse. In Genesis 3:19 after Adam rebelled against God, God told him that "in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground." We are no longer under the curse though because of what Christ has done. For, "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree" (Galatians 3:13). Now what we do in terms of our jobs and what God has promised should occur by His grace. That does not mean that we won't ever encounter difficulties, but there will be an ease in terms of what we do. As the Bible states, "It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13). Don't toil, simply perform your duties and receive all He has promised by His grace!
