The Power of an Image

6/25/2012

Look from the place where thou art...for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it.  Genesis 13:14-12

We move in the direction of our most dominant thought.  That thought in turn produces an image.  Essentially, we think thoughts in the form of an image.  Thoughts of lack for instance produce anxiety because they will include seeing ourselves going broke or even without food to eat.  We have to reprogram the way we think so that our image can be changed.  Romans 12:2 tells us to "be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."  The Scripture indicates that we do not have to be conformed to the thoughts of lack, sickness, or depression that we have a proclivity towards as a result of living in this fallen world.  Our lives can be transformed by thinking God's thoughts by meditating on and studying His Word.  As we meditate on and study God's Word, our way of thinking will begin to line up with God's way of thinking and our image will change.  In his book, the Purpose Driven Life, author Rick Warren compares the proclivity to think the wrong thoughts to a speed boat on auto pilot headed east on a lake.  In order to go west and change the direction of the boat there are two options he says.  First, you could try to change the direction of the boat by turning the steering wheel or helm with brute force.  He goes on to say that this is a temporary solution because after a short period of time, you will become tired and fatigued from utilizing your muscles to make this change.  A better and more permanent solution is to reprogram the boat's auto pilot to go in a western direction.  We have to change the way we think and our image in order to see God's promises manifest in our lives.  Allow images of victory, abundance, peace, health, and joy to become your most dominant thoughts today!
