The Hardest Thing You Will Ever Do Is Rest

12/1/2014

Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord...the Lord shall fight for you.  Exodus 14:13-14

It has been said that "the hardest thing you will ever do is rest."  In today's Scripture, the Children of Israel were faced with what looked like an insurmountable problem in terms of the Red Sea blocking them when they left Egypt (Exodus 14).  When things are going wrong or when our back seems to be against a wall, the natural human tendency is to want to alleviate the pressure from the problem by "doing something" in our own strength.  God wants us to have a position of rest in Him and remain seated though.  God is seated on His throne and Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19).  God wants us to rest just like He is seated and at rest.  In fact, God wants us to rest in Him!  For any king, the seated position of rest is one of the most powerful positions that he can take!  As Believers, the Bible is clear that we are "kings and priests unto God" (Revelation 1:6).  In Psalm 110:1, David wrote, "The LORD said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool."  Do you have enemies today?  Perhaps the enemy is an actual person or even a sickness in your body, financial lack, problem on your job, or relationship issue?  God is saying to sit "until I make thine enemies thy footstool."  You don't have to fight your enemies but have faith in God that He will make your enemies your footstool!  Don't panic, simply have faith in God (Mark 11:22), rest, and He will make your enemies your footstool bringing to pass His promises and plan for your life!
