PERIODS   OF   TRANSITION!

Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle...wouldn't it be better for us to return to Egypt?  Then they plotted among themselves, "Let's choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!" Numbers 14:3-4 NLT

When the Lord is taking us through a period of transition in our lives, often it feels uncomfortable!  In fact, because it is so uncomfortable, sometimes we will desire to return to what is familiar, yet dysfunctional.  This is exactly what happened to the Children of Israel when they left Egypt and were headed to the Promised Land in the Bible.

God led the Children of Israel through the Wilderness or an uncomfortable situation as they were headed towards their destiny (Exodus 13:18).  They wanted to return to Egypt or bondage even though they were in the perfect will of God as they journeyed through the wilderness.  Ultimately, that generation of the Children of Israel did not enter the Promised Land (Numbers 14:30-31) because although they left Egypt, Egypt never left them!  God wanted to get Egypt out of them!

When we are in our wilderness experiences, we should not run back or desire to return to our comfort zone or Egypt (place of bondage).  The Wilderness is the place of self-discovery and the place where we come to realize the awesome power of God!  The wilderness is not a place of punishment but purging and preparation.  Allow God to take you through your wilderness experience, cleanse you of Egypt, and into your destiny!
