No Occasion for Accusation

Be holy for I am holy.  Leviticus 11:45

Holiness is not for God but for you.  God is not impressed by our holiness.  That might sound like a shocking statement.  You see, once you accepted Christ as your Savior, you were given the “gift of righteousness” (Romans 5:17).  You were given God’s own righteousness.  There is no work you can perform to make you more righteous or nothing you can do wrong to make you less righteous.  Holiness allows you to have a clear conscience and a clear conscience allows you to continue to walk in faith and receive the promises of God.  Faith is the only way to please God and receive His promises (Hebrews 11:6).  When we sin or don’t walk in holiness, we don’t have confidence before God.  Often we withdraw and run from the presence of God when we sin.  Consequently, we cannot operate in faith and receive the promises of God when we sin and don’t have a clear conscience.  God does not withdraw His righteousness or presence from us when we sin but often we “feel” like He does.  The key to receive God’s promises is to walk in holiness so that your own conscience does not condemn you.  Keep a clear conscience so that you can operate in faith and receive the promises of God!
