Keep Your Eyes Fixed

12/11/2013

In the morning will I direct [my prayer] unto thee, and will look up.  Psalms 5:3

So often, we start off looking at God concerning various circumstances but then we take our eyes off Him once we think we can handle things on our own. We must continue to look to God through the course of a situation and up until its completion!  Many times, God will make us a promise and we receive it joyfully.  Nonetheless, through the course of time, we feel we no longer need God’s help once we receive the promise and feel we can take over from there.  This scenario might apply to God’s promise to send someone a spouse, bless them with a job, or even the promise to bring forth a child.  God may speak a promise, send those things to our lives, and we allow pride and misguided logic to allow us to think we can handle things from there and no longer need God.  Take it from personal experience, eliminating God and getting into self-effort will cause you to fall flat on their face.  There is never a scenario or time that you will not need God!  It is best for us to humble ourselves to receive this fact.  Remember that the Bible says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher
of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).  We must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus because He is not only the Author of our faith but the Finisher of it as well!  We do not perfect what He starts but the Word of God is clear that “the LORD will perfect [that which] concerneth me” (Psalm 138:8).
Look to Jesus all the way through your marriage, child’s life, career, or any other circumstance!
