Immediately Cast It On God

2/10/2013

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.  1 Peter 5:7

Today’s verse of Scripture encourages us to cast ALL not SOME of cares on God.  The sooner you cast your cares on God the better!  I have seen people carry their cares concerning a child for example, for years.  They attempt to fix the situation in their own strength and based on their own intellect and eventually wear themselves out.  When the situation does not improve after years, they finally decide that maybe they should let the LORD intervene and give it to Him.  By this time, usually the situation appears so dire that it is hard to believe that it will ever change.  Wouldn’t it be much easier to turn it over to God from the onset before it becomes so despondent and chaotic?  After all, since it will ultimately be cast on God anyway, wouldn’t it be better to do it sooner rather than later when we have made a mess of things?  The word “casting” in 1 Pet 5:7 is literally a picture of throwing something to someone.  We are to deliberately and forcefully fling the weight of the care unto God knowing that He can handle it.  Matthew 6:25 instructs us to “take no thought.”  We were never designed to carry the weight of worry or stress in any area of our life.  God designed us to live a stress free life filled with abundance (John 10:10).  Next time you have a thought filled with worry, stress, and doubt know that it did not originate with you but that it is Satan trying to tempt you to “take a thought” that is not yours.  Immediately, reject that thought and fling the care of the whole situation unto God knowing that He is well able to handle it!
