Haste = Fear

2/7/2013

He that believeth shall not make haste.  Isaiah 28:16

At the root of all anxious haste is some fear.  Often when we rush to make a decision or do something, we rush because we are fearful that if we don’t perform some action, things will not work out the way we want.  Satan will always try to convince you that you must take some hasty action because you are running out of time which is simply untrue.  Nine times out of ten, you will regret making a hasty decision because it will be made out of emotions and fear.  Second Timothy 1:7 states that “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  You do not need to get into fear regarding a decision that must be made.  God instructs us to be anxious for nothing but “in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).  We must take time to pray and allow God to speak to us regarding any decision that we are in the midst of making.  James 1:5 is clear that if we lack wisdom, we can ask it of God and He will give it to us.  Do not make a hasty decision out of fear.  Seek God, receive His peace and wisdom, and make the right decision every time!
