frustrations!

By faith he forsook Egypt…for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.  Hebrews 11:27

The very fact that we have a frustration in our life is an indication that our focus is not on God!  I am not speaking about minor frustrations such as being stuck in traffic jams, petty disagreements, or things of that sort.  Things such as being frustrated about not being able to have a child, not being married, or not having a house are indications that our focus is in the wrong place.  It is not wrong to desire those things or even believe God for those things if that is what He has promised you!  Many times, God is the One who places those desires in our hearts (Psalm 37:4).  The problem comes in when we desire those things (or the promise) more than Him (the Promiser) and get frustrated when those things have not yet come to pass in our lives!  At times, we may talk about those things more than we talk about Him because that is what we desire most in our heart and “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34).  The frustration of those things not happening quickly enough may be rooted in impatience, fear that the desire or promise won’t ever come to pass, or jealousy that it looks like it is happening for others and not us.  When we seek the Lord he will deliver us from all our fears (Psalm 34:4).

If our focus is right though, we won’t get as frustrated.  Nothing is more valuable than God!  When we focus on Him, we are radiant and not ashamed (Psalm 34:5).  He is our “exceedingly great reward” (Genesis 15:1) first and foremost!  When we endure by sincerely focusing on God who is invisible, as today’s verse of Scripture in Hebrews 11:27 states, in time, all God’s promises and desires will come to pass in our lives!
