If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts (1 John 3:20 NIV).
The most important forgiveness you can practice is forgiveness towards yourself! It has often been said that God forgives us and in fact, remembers our “sins” no more (Hebrews 8:12 NIV) so why do we constantly remind ourselves and the Lord of them? From the time we were children, we were programmed that someone must pay for a slight or wrong committed. Consequently, we may condemn others or unfortunately constantly condemn ourselves if we have been conditioned to accept abuse or punishment. Lack of forgiveness towards oneself can produce sickness and disease in the body, mental disorders, and depletes your energy and zeal for life. The good news is that you are as pure as snow in God’s sight and your past does not even exist to Him. The only “time” that exist with the Lord is eternity or now because God exists outside of time in eternity! God has forever seen you in His righteousness! Accept that you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21) on today and forgive yourself!
