don't focus on the externals

While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.  For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.  2  Corinthians 4:18

We are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26)!  When God encountered a seemingly impossible situation in the beginning (Genesis 1:2), he did not focus on the perceived lack or obstacle but simply said "let there be light" or light be (Genesis 1:3).  The darkness had no power!

The same is true in our own lives.  The more we focus on our perceived obstacles and challenges, the more power we give those things.  Conversely, the more we focus on the Word God has spoken to us, the less power we give those dark areas that inevitably pop up in our lives.  While we do not necessarily have to deny the existence of problems, we also do not have to study or focus on them.  When we focus on God's Word, the Spirit, or the unseen realm, we are focusing on a realm that is unshakeable and eternal!  Do not focus on problems that may have arisen in your life this week or on today.  Remember that there is one Lord, one power, one mind, and one presence and focus on that truth!
