Don't Blame God

3/2/2013

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  1 John 1:5

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.  We have all seen it.  When this happens, often the temptation is to believe that God is the source of what happened or that He at least allowed it to happen.  The Bible is clear though that “God is good” and “God cannot be tempted with evil” (Psalm 73:1 and James 1:13).  God is never the source of any of our problems.  In fact, John 10:10 states that “the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” but Jesus has “come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  So God’s desire is for us to have a good life filled with abundance but Satan’s desire is to steal, kill, and ultimately destroy us in any way possible!  So why does God allow bad things to happen to good people.  One of the reasons might be because God does not allow bad things to happen to us.  We allow bad things to happen to ourselves.  God has given us authority in this earth according to Genesis 1:26 and Luke 10:19.  We have authority with the words we speak (Proverbs 18:21) and what we believe (Mark 11:23-24).  Don’t blame God for things that might have gone wrong in your life.  Know that He is on your side and His desire is always to do you good!
