Set your affection on things above. Colossians 3:2
God wants all of us. The Bible tells us to “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength” (Mark 12:30). This is a very important admonition. If you will remember, anytime the Children of Israel got into trouble in the Old Testament, it was because they were not heeding this commandment but were in idolatry. Often, we think worshipping idols is unique to a certain timeframe and only occurred in the Old Testament. Nonetheless, we worship many idols today whether they are people, relationships, careers, spouses, children, illegal substances, sports, or anything we put before our relationship with God. While God does give us some of these things to enjoy, He wants to be first place in our lives. Only you know if you have allowed other things to be placed before God. Search your heart today and make sure God is first.
