But they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
2 Corinthians 10:12
A lot of the frustration we experience is rooted in not knowing who we are in Christ! Not knowing who we are in Christ consists of many things including comparing ourselves to other people. Often, we are not content with the life and blessings that God has given us because it does not look like the life someone else has! Often we are content with our lives until we compare it to someone else's. We can save ourselves a lot of heartache by being confident in who we are in Christ and giving ourselves a break if we do not have the spouse, house, child, or career that someone else has. Our confidence is not based in what we have anyway but in Christ. After all, Jeremiah 9:24 states, “Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me.” We are who we are and victorious because of what Christ has done and not because of anything we may have! Let us encourage those we encounter this week to be confident in who they are because of their relationship with Christ!
